Rick G
As long as it starts and runs well and has decent compresion, I would say go for it. They built those motors to last a long time back in the day
aanderud
My mom and dad had a pontoon with an 85 horsepower johnson from 1978. It still started and ran better than my '98 merc as of 3 years ago when she sold the whole rig.I'd say if the compression tests out OK, go for it. Should have no trouble finding parts, as evinrude and johnson from that era all take the same parts.
