Auger Leaking Gas

TCon17

Question

I have an Eskimo Shark from a couple years ago, and the last 2 times I put gas in, its almost all gone in a couple hours when its just sitting there. I found where its running down the auger, but I cant find where it leaking out of. There is not a crack in the gas tank aywhere, but seems to be coming from a couple inches above the bottom of the tank, as there is usualy an inch or two of gas that stays in the tank.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I got the same deal with my stingray. It comes out of the end of the gas line where you prime it before it goes into the carb. This is the only auger I have ever owned so I am not sure if they are all built like this? My plan is to not prime it if there is gas in the bulb. In the manual it says to put the lever to run, then prime, choke, then pull start. I always thought you choke, prime, pull, then set to run. If I prime with the lever on choke the flap covering the carb is closed and the gas just shoots out the fuel line, into the air filter and out the bottom. I have dealt with this since I've had it. Hopefully someone with a little more auger mechanical experise can fill me in on this issue.

Eskimo's are notorious for leaking gas. I've had one for 5 years now and the thing has leaked since it came out of the box. First it leaked from the gas line going into the tank, then it leaked from somewhere near the carb, then it was the gas cap. Cheap fixes that I never should've had to do. I wouldn't recommend an eskimo to anyone and certainly never buy another one. Can't even get the stupid thing running this year, looks like another trip to the shop!
