cavalierowner
Here's a tip to save yourself a bunch of money on cleaning patches. When I finished muzzle loader deer season, I noticed I was getting low on cleaning patches; I use a LOT of patches cleaning my traditional style ML. Rather than pay the high prices they get in the sporting goods store, I decided to make my own patches. At a fabric store I bought a linear yard of white cotton interlock for about $7. The piece of fabric is 36" x 58", so if I cut it into 2 x 2 pieces, I'll get about 500 patches! The great thing about the cotton interlock is that it doesn't fray when you cut it. All you have to do is wash it first to take out any sizing in the material.

cavalierowner
I use old underwear and socks. That's what I did with my conventional rifles, but I don't want to do that with my traditional ML. Once in a while I would get a loose thread; not a big deal with my rifles because I can see down the bore, but with my traditional ML, there's no breech plug, so I can't see if there's a stray thread in the bore. Well, that and as much as I shoot, I'd run out of underware
LightningBG
About once a year i replace all my white work undershirts. Old ones go into patches and garage rags.
