hamms-scooter
I have the 20 my buddy has the 22. The 22 is a little more detailed. It shines most in the shallow under 20 ft depths. It also has bottom lock feature for running it in your boat in the open water season. I fish mainly under 30 ft and the 22 would be perfect. I would almost like to try other units out there too. Wish I could try the Humminbirds and marcum units all I have used is vex. Would be cool to check them all out on the ice. Hope that flasher shoot out happens. HSO should get vex, humminbird,Marcum,Lowrance all there with trucks of flashers for guys to buy (at discount of course) after they want to switch brands for one reason or another or to buy another. I know this would never happen would be cool though.
A R Johnson
yeah I don't fish in water over 35 ft. Is the display any different? Like the the color more vibrant or anything?
hamms-scooter
More detailed. For each depth setting on the 22 it matches the pulse rate of the transducer. This gives best resolution and highest definition to the display. anytime you can see the water column on the hole display thats money. Werewolf
I had a FL 20 and I have the 22 now, I would keep the fl20 if I could do it over and use a 12 degree T ducer, you will have a more versatile unit. Try something else if you want to spend some cash , maybe a marcum
PerchJerker
The FL-22 is going to shine when you use the 10 foot or 30 foot depth scales, that is when you can maximize the viewing area on the screen and get the best target separation. The only other units that are comparable in those depth ranges are the Marcum LX -6, -7 and -9.If you're on the 20 or 40 foot ranges with your FL-22, you're getting the same target separation or definition as any other Vex. Pretty much the same as any other flasher too since they all have 20 and 40 foot depth ranges ..... at that point it comes down to how many LCD segments are in the display when it comes to determining separation or definition. As for more vibrant colors, I will just say that I haven't noticed anything like that. The real benefits of the FL-22 to the majority of fisherman who are fishing typical lakes around here are the 10 and 30 foot depth ranges. Dahitman44
Woody -- quit whining, your fl20 is fine, plus you already used it. But my fl-18 is better

The fl20 great in deep water 100ft plus also works well shallow but with a little less detail . I have both and wouldn't give up either one.
