Slingbox Question

I am very curious about these unit. Can anyone explain to a simpleton how this works? Is there a monthly service charge for this product or do you get it hook it up and go? I am thinking about putting one of these on at home so that I can use it when I am on Lake of the Woods in my sleeper houses. I deer hunt with some guys that have them and we watched the Vikings from the camp which I never thought I would do.

I have one and have used it when traveling in other countries etc. You just connect it to your home internet (high speed) and to your cable box. There is a remote control output that you place in front of the cable box. When you are away you log into the sling box and you can watch whatever is playing on that cable box and you can remotely control the cable box from where you are. If there is anyone at home that wants to watch that TV they have to watch what you are watching or you have to watch what they are watching.

Keep in mind this uses a lot of internet bandwidth so if you intend to use it on a wireless internet like verizon when on the lake it will rack up huge bills quickly.
