Borch
Yes, It's a half hour before sunrise. One days limit on ducks. I haven't checked to see if they can have a goose this year. Last year they were allowed one goose. There's not a lot of action after the inital flight(at least where we hunt). Just not a lot of youngsters out that day to move them.Good Luck! duckbuster
I think the child has to have a gun training certificate and I don't think the adult can have a gun in the blind. GOOD LUCK AND GOOD HUNTING
Fisher Dave
This is from the waterfowl supplement for this year.Youth Waterfowl Hunting Day On Sept. 14, 2002, waterfowl hunters age 15 and younger, when accompanied by a nonhunting adult (age 18 and older, no license required), may take ducks, Canada geese, mergansers, coots, and moorhens from 1/2 hour before sunrise to 4 pm. Daily duck bag limits are the same as shown in duck limit tables for the regular season, including 1 pintail. Canvasback may not be taken. One Canada goose may be taken, except in the west zone (including Lac qui Parle and West-Central zones), where 5 Canada geese may be taken. There are no license requirements. Hunters ages 13-15 must have firearms safety certificate in their possession. All other migratory bird hunting regulations apply.2002 season limits.Ducks .. daily limit ... 6Pintails .. daily ...... 1Daily limit: May not include more than 4 mallards ( of which no more than 2 can be female mallards), 3 scaup, two wood ducks, two redheads, and one black duck. The Canvasback season is closed.Mergansers ....... daily ... 5 (only 1 hooded)Coots and Moorhens..daily.... 15 combinedMotorized Spinning Wing Decoys for Ducks are not allowed for the youth hunt. Swimming decoys or shakers are not restricted. Spinning wing decoys without motors are legal. Motorized Goose decoys are legal. The motorized spinning wing duck decoys are restricted through Oct 5th.This is directly from the 2002 waterfowl hunting regs, this should be all that applies to the youth hunt. ( dont think I missed anything )Take a kid hunting.Fisher Dave
Benny
Isnt it a cotradiction to allow a spinning wing Goose decoy but not a spinning wing duck decoy? All you would have to do is place one Goose decoy out in the middle of your spread and your legal and still using the spinning motion to atract ducks.Mallards will land near if not with Canada geese most of the time.Benny
Fisher Dave
I agree with you Benny .. It is odd but it makes a little sense in theory. Its well know the goose population is too high and their trying to thin it out... unfortunately the robotics arent as effective on geese as they are ducks. At the same time you will see me with a robotic goose decoy or 2 the 1st couple weeks of the season... I'm willing to bet the ducks will decoy into them myself.Robotic decoys are far more effective in the early season than the late season. Wind powered spinning wing decoys arent as effective as robotics (they are allowed throughout season) .. mother nature doesnt always keep the wind blowing and these decoys do more harm than good if the wings arent moving in my experiences(4 years of hunting behind spinners). I may be wrong but it seems that they're trying to ease up on the harvest of our local birds.
