Flasher for NewB

Been icefishing maybe a handful of times throughout the years. Been looking for flashers but need some recommendations of what is the best bang for buck flasher for a novice that uses it maybe 5 times a year. Budget is probably under $200 bucks on the fair market value. LMK any recommendations.

You could go on the c*list site and find a used Vexilar FL-8 for that kind of money. Lots of them out there to be had.

ya check that site for a used one. i actually have one that would be perfect for you i may get rid of for your price range if i bite the bullet and pick up an LX-7 soon

Fleet Farm currently has the FL-8 on sale this week for $265, or the Hummingbird Ice-35 if you could scrape together a little more cash. Otherwise buying used is your best bet.

You'll get a million different opinions on brands of flashers on this site. All I can say is I had never used one before, and bought an FL-18 last year toward the end of the season, and am very happy with my purchase.

Going from no flasher to any kind of flasher will be make quite a difference. Good luck.

Buy one used. My first one was an FL-8, and an older one at that. One without Interference Rejection, but it worked till I got my Humminbird ICE35. If you look at an FL-8, try to get one with IR. Other wise the Marcum VX-1 and the ICE35 have IR. Look at the Showdown also.

I love my Ice 35 that I bought last year. Not too bad of a price and all the features I wanted; Zoom, IR and dual beam.

i have a used fl-8 got it for 100 they are bullit proof it would make a great unit for your first one
