walleyewacker
I have heard and blown alot of goose calls and my personal favorite is still the long honker by Big River. It has a nice mellow tone and is very easy to blow rapidly such as fast double clucking. Sells for 20$. Pick one up
Benny
The best goose call would be the one you feel you can call with the best.I suggest going to Gander Mountain and try all they have out, the Big river calls are ok,the OLT calls are good, Illusions are fair but I found them hard to blow when your winded from a long walk or to much calling. Some of the high end calls are worth the money but don't know much about them as I am to cheap to fork out $50.00 per call.Again, just go to Gander and try them all, get the one you feel comfortable with in both tone and ease of use.Benny[This message has been edited by Benny (edited 08-27-2002).]
Guest
I like the Big River Calls. They make a short goose call that sounds great. Yea.... you can pay more for other calls, and they might sound a little better, but if you're after a good quality call, and not willing to fork out heavy bills, go with the Big River.Good Luck,Rusty
Ozzy169
It depends on your budget, ability and skill, and pae! Big River's are a wonderful call, easy to blow, sounds good and easy to sounds good. On the other hand there are calls that have a "short reed". These calls are the ones in contests, guides use them, and can produce many more sounds. Drawbacks are spendier, harder to blow to name a few. Me personally I blow a short reed (Gilliganz Calls) which costs $125.00, Foiles has good stuff along with Grounds and Zink, all short reeds. Finlander
My son bought a H.S. Short Reed Slammer. He demonstrated it and it has a real good goose sound that sounds as good as anyhigh-end$$ call I had ever heard. When I was at the Game Fair I was at the Gander tent looking at the goose calls thereand Barnie Calef of H.S. calls (3 time World Champion Duck Caller) showed me that exact call and he demonstrated it and showed me how to blow it.For the money that is a good call to get!And it comes with an instructional tape that was very easy to learn from. Try that call out, I like mine!------------------F-STOP
Guest
Walleyewacker hit the nail on the head! The best goose call I have ever used and it's user friendly too. It is lethal to geese, at least for me

Guest
I would agree with ozzy. The gilliganz is one of the best sounding short read call out there. Hey ozzy you got it down yet. Good luck this weekend.Eric EichornRivertown Sports
Guest
definitly a GILIGANZ they take a little practice but once you get the hang of it you can sound like a flock of geese. I used to blow big river very easy to blow but very limited in sounds. Gili Ganz calls sound UNBELIEVEABLE Give them a try there made right here in minnesota.
