Sam Smith
First time out on the ice this last weekend. Went to Whitefish Lake with my brother. The ice was thin (2-3 inches) so we stuck near shore in less than Six feet of water. No eyes but it was nice to "Break the ice" for the season.Good luck fishing,SamPS. If you have any questions feel free to ask in this thread. I will do my best to help you out. Please feel free to share your fishing reports as well. It would be nice to build a network of HSO friends in this area.
gman2002
any idea how the flowage is doing for ice, thinking about heading up this weekend. also how much snow did you guys get in minong, wondering how bad the driveway is. thanks, brian
Sam Smith
We got 6-8 inches last weekend. Smaller lakes have safe ice back waters of the flowage should be good to.
Sam Smith
Rainy weekend melted some of the snow on top the ice but the cold should be here to stay now. Whitefish lake had 5 inches of ice at the landing on Sunday afternoon 2 1/2 good clear ice then 2 1/2 white not so good on top. I will definitely be out several times this week and I will let everyone know how things go.

Sam Smith
I have not had the best luck on the minong flowage for eyes but you can usually find good crappie action just north of the T Landing.
Sam Smith
I have not been by Nancy yet this year but I have fished Whitefish several times now which has 4-5 inches of ice and is a larger deeper lake so you should definitely have walkable ice. Sam Smith
Out on Whitefish lake three times this weekend. Biggest Eye was a 18 inches but it was tasty. There was even a couple nuts driving trucks next to shore on 6-7 inches! Ice was safe 3 inches around the narrows.
