Best steel shot for the money?

Recommended Posts

What do you think, is the best steel shot for the money? Hevi-shot and tungsten work but why pay $20 for 10 shells? the best deal i've had was a case of kent faststeel for $95. i love the 1,500fps but other companys usally charge $15+ a box.

The best way to go is to invest a little bit of money into reloading them yourself.

I personally would rate federal steel the worst I have come across... I dont like to hear pellets bouncing off birds at 20 yards.

I have had fair results from Remington Nitro loads.

Winchester I stay away from. I have pulled Drylok's apart and had pellets that were half sheered and very irregular. I dont see how they could have provided any pattern in the air or velocity for any distance.

It may have been a rare occurance from Winchester .. But I like my reloads. I can shoot a 2 3/4" shell and have the power to put pellets completely threw birds at 40 yards.

Ammocraft in Hopkins is a good place to start with reloading.

I reload too, but the thing is I really don't have time to do it so I don't anymore. I have though about reloading Bismuth, have you ever tried to reload Bismuth or shot Bismuth reloads?
