is it legal to fish while spearing?

i'm new to spearing and would like to put out a tip-up or use a live sucker minnow with hook as a decoy.

are there any problems with doing this?

Yes its legal your spear is one line and you can use a tip up or regular line for one

Your spear counts as one line so as long as you follow the normal angling rules you can jig in your spear hole or have a tip up out (you need to be able to see it though or it will be considered unattended and you will get fined)

In Michigan we're allowed three lines and a spear doesn't count as a linebecause to count it must have a hook.

In a good lake I can't keep all my lines clear and spear, when I return to the darkhouse my live decoy is normally dead and teeth marks appear on it.
