Line for Tip Ups?

How much line do you use on your tip ups? I'm looking at vinyl covered line, and it comes in 25 yard spools, which seems too little. Or do you just barrel knot a few spools together? I want to say I have 50 yards on my tip ups currently. Thanks!

It comes in larger spools also at Fleet. You could back it too if you want more also as long as you have the 25 yd spool, 75 ft is quite a bit though for most apps.

I just fill mine up with main line untill the spool is about 3/4 full. I use pretty thick line though, its some kind of thick braided line like what you'd put on a rattle reel, almost looks like really tiny rope. Never really paid attention to how much goes on. From there I tie a swivel and a mono leader.
