Good Starter Goose gun

I am looking to buy a good new goose gun this year. How about the Mossberg 835? Any other suggestions.

Have shot the Nova for the last 2 seasons and have been impressed. Have not noticed a bad kick. Considering how few I see in the field, I'm not sure how everyone knows how hard they kick.

The nova is an excellent choice. I don't think I'd go any other way for a pump. But, if you're serious enough about goose hunting to but a gun specifically for it, I'd take a look at the new Beretta Urika 3 1/2" and the Browning Gold 10 ga. I just wish Beretta had a 10.

My opinion is, if you want to go with a ten gauge, get a semi-auto if you're worried at all about the kick. The pumps aren't real bad, but there is a noticable difference. If the cost is an issue, go with the nova.

I purchased a new 835 Mossberg several years ago and ended up selling it after one season. It almost always jammed when I used 3 1/2" shells, shorter shells worked fine in it. A gunsmith told me it was a common problem with them and that it could not be fixed. Now I have a Browning bps and a Remington 870. I bought them both used and have never had a problem with them. My favorite is the Browning.

Without a dought, Remington 870 SuperMag!
My son has one, he loves it!
Price around $350.
He drilled snow geese with 3-1/2 BBB's in South Dakota last spring 50-60 yards out!
For the money, thats the gun!
