Antlers for dogs?

Great idea. I am glad I found this thread. I got the skill saw out last night and cut up some pieces for the beagles as they are voracious chewers. They loved them and little sign of wear after the first chewing session. Maybe I can scale back on the rawhide budget. They can each go through a roll in a night!

Sven with a couple of his new treats. Ole promptly retreated to the basement with his to chew in seclusion. He has this fear someone is going to swipe it from him.

I am a big fan of the antler chews, although I have found a fairly priced source for them which I don't plan to give away here smile My dog hasn't found any on his own, not that I have trained him for it or anything like that. If you are thinking they are too expensive, they do last a long time so give one a try sometime.

My dogs REALLY like the antlers I find after a burn, 'smoked antlers' I call them!! Monitor the antler that they're chewing on though, I've had mine almost chew a two inch piece off, was afraid to see what would happen if they tried to swallow a piece!!!

It is fun when they find that first antler when you're shed hunting, yet there are other times when I see one, leave it lie, then get the dogs to hunt it up, and they still have a hard time when its right out in the open!!! Go figure.
