Any opinions on the Garmin Montana's?

Question

I'm looking at them mainly because of my age and less than stellar eyesight. The screen size is quite a bit larger and in the reviews I read, it does better than the Oregon in sunlight.

They're a little pricey but my wife kind of gave me the okay on getting one (well, she didn't come right out and say no.) grin

I have used one for about a year and I absolutely love it. The large bright screen is great. I did not know if I would care for the touch screen but it is very nice. This is not the conductive type of touch screen that you see on most smart phones it is resistive so you can operate it with a glove on or use a stylus. It is very user friendly and quite intuitive. It has three GB of on board storage and the ability to read a large (I think 32 GB) card. It is easy to load many different types of background maps and you can load user created maps. You can subscribe to Garmin Birdseye Imagery and have aerial photo background, in conjunction with topo if you want. It has voice commands with a mount with a speaker using rout-able maps. A very unique feature is it comes with a rechargeable battery but can be replaced with three AA batteries. That is the first time I have ever seen that feature. A great unit but fairly spendy. I have a few light scratches on the screen so I am wondering how long that will hold up. A screen protector may be in order but I have read that some types will damage the screen when removed so I would only use the garmin product.

If you can afford it, go for it! You will love it.
