masoct3
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with wheel chains. I have seen some this year that come in a red bag, but not sure how many to a bag. I drive a Camry. Thank you!
vman11
I have wheel chains for my F150, RAV4 and ATV. The ATV and F150 chains are the v-bar type; due to clearance on the RAV4 I ordered some basic cable-type chains online.I have only used them on the lake and man are they a world of difference. Places you can't get through with tires only are no match with chains. However, don't get too aggresive because if you're stuck with chains you are really stuck.Low speeds (20 mph or less) are best due to the extra wheel vibration. Make sure to get chains that are specifically fit to your tire size, and make sure they are tight. The last thing you need is a loose chain flapping around. adamr
Its unbeleivable what you can go threw with tire chains. I would guess almost double.
Brad B
I won't put a link to thier site but do a internet search for zipgripgo. These are a one time emergency use only item but they would help you get out if you get stuck. They had a booth at the Blaine HardWater Expo. aanderud
Before I'd go spending cash on zip grip go that are essentially one-time use disposables, I'd spend the 30-40 bucks on a cheap but effective set of cable chains. I've actually seen them as low as 26 bucks on some sites here or there.Didn't know which year so I just picked at random a 2006 Camry on amazon and I got this model: Security Chain Company SC1034 -- there are 91 reviews, it has 4 stars average out of those, and they're 29 bucks and change. Are they the best out there? Of course not, but for 29 bucks and 4 stars average, I'd bite if I was looking for a bargain. If you want to spend more there are likely better ones out there for more $$ too. Also, keep in mind that if you read the 91 reviews on this product and the hundreds of reviews on the other similar products on amazon, you'll get a heck of a lot more info than you will from the limited group of folks on this site who have used chains on a car like yours. It's a wide world out there.
