Callin Coyotes

Recommended Posts

What sounds do you guys use when your calling coyotes? Which have worked best for you or what sequences have worked best for you? Im a newbie and would like to hear what other people have had success with. I have a foxpro available to me also working on getting better on a hand call. Does an e caller work significantly better for you or is it a toss up between e caller and hand calls?

i pretty well stick with the foxpro...

Deep snow, hungry yotes... go with about anything that sounds like its dying... Everyone has a different idea on how to go about it and sequences...

I also somewhat try to match habitat and time of year (EX. Bird sounds in spring time, Or calf distress near cattle operations or late winter early spring calving season)

Try more yote vocalizations especially during breeding season, Also have found it to work good on bait pile sets... When the snow was deep and we had bait piles set, we found yote vocalizations got them really stirred up and groups would charge in to protect there food source...

When it comes to timber and brush country I start super quite and work up to maybe 30% volume after a 20 minute set. I never use hand calls as they will see the movement of me working the call before I see them. Never watch the small openings as brush dogs won't go in them during the day. Put your back to the wind and opening and watch for them circling around to get a sniff. I do envy those of you in the open country.

I love my baby cottontail, fawn distress and fawn bleets late summer early fall. Then Snowshoe screams and red fox yips/barks in the winter. Come late winter sping its all about fighting yotes.
