Shot a big one today

great buck, i would have called someone that traps and have them setup on the gut pile or just had your brother sit in the stand and shoot the dam thing.

I trap but I live 2.5 hours away...For the longest time there were no predators around us, as well as no pheasants. Pheasants have come back and so have the predators. This winter I'll probably have to get out there and set some traps for a few days..

I shot a big one last night, not quite that big, but close. I only have cell pics right now, going to take some better ones tonight.

Great buck!! He was too old to taste good anyways. I'm sure the yote enjoyed that tough old roast more than you would have. Congrats!!!

That deer I shot was well over 3.5. Genetics around there have never been that great. His teeth were very worn. My educated guess is that he was right around 5. In my opinion the age of deer are very underrated by most people. It takes some time for bucks to gain mass, width, height, and points. They dont just go from a nubbin to a 120inch 8 to a 150 inch 10 point in 3 three years except for a few areas in the state/country.

And yes, the deer is incredibly stinky and will not eat well...Hormones mixed with sitting all night with his guts in him..
