My new sidearm

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty particular about my shots. Most of my shots are broadside under 80 yards. With my savage shotgun im 7 for 9 deer I've shot at, with maybe using 12-15 shells. Not best shot but definitely not the worst. Most misses were during a deer drive

My sister in-laws boyfriend has used a Ar .223 the last 2 years. He has taken 2 deer with it however both of them had multiple holes in them even thru the vitals. Last year was the last straw he shot him broadside at 80 yards then put 3 more into him as he was running after 300 yards he made it to the fauther in-laws stand and he put it down with the 30-30. We asked him to either purchase/use a diffrent rifle or leave deer camp.

With practice, proper shot placement and bullet selection it could be a good rifle for deer. But on a pistol platform I really see no good coming from it. 2c If you need a back up bring a .357 and shoot them behind the ear once you drop them with a slug heck a .25 auto would work for that.
