LarryK
Yes for those of you waiting for snow in central Minnesota. Quit waiting!!! I just got back from riding up around International Falls and Crane Lake area and the snow is plentiful. Groomers are working the trails into excellent condition. We went on Thurs. and came home last night. Friday they were literally like riding on glass. By Saturday night they were starting to get a little rough but he groomers were out Sunday making them good again. I can't wait to get back up there. SnowAngel
Northern Minnesota is finally having a real winter with snow. The past few years have been pretty lacking of the white stuff, but here in Ely we are getting snow daily. The trails are being groomed as our equipment can handle it. Alot of repairs being made on the Ely Igloo groomers.Support the sport, join a club.------------------***Let it snow!***
J Boo
I was up in Ely this past weekend. There was a lot of snow on the lakes but the trails weren't that great. A few were decent but most of them were very bumpy. We were wondering why the groomers weren't grooming the trails. That is just what I saw, we had a good time though. oscar
We rode from Two Harbors to Ely yesterday and the trails were in nice shape. We stopped for lunch in Isabella and the resort owner told us that the local groomer was broke down, he wasn't sure when it would be back up and running. We did meet a groomer on the State trail by Silver Bay. It was more than a little brisk last night when we loaded up, but we had a good time. SnowAngel
Keeping up with the grooming of 125 miles of trails in the Ely has taken its toll on the Ely Igloo Snowmobile Club's grooming equipment. Major repairs on one of the Bombardier groomers that broke through the ice on the swamps of the Tomahawk Trail. Other equipment constantly being wrenched on from trying to groom with inadequate snow on the trails to cover the rocks.Hate to preach, but all snowmobilers should join their local snowmobile clubs and support the sport, whether financially or by volunteering their time clearing trails and wrenching on the grooming equipment. The Ely Igloos are looking to get into charitable gambling with pull tabs to help raise the money needed.Visiting snowmobilers to the Ely area, when you stop at the Chainsaw Sisters and see the donation can for trails on the counter, drop in a few bucks. Also, buy a raffle ticket with chances to win a snowmobile and 4-wheeler. Cost is $20, but that is for 2 chances.Support the Sport!
