Deer hunters-the country's finest!

Recommended Posts

Now is the time of year to gloat. We, as deer hunters, have the opportunity to show the country AGAIN, why we represent the best in humanity. We love our country, we cherish our friends, we give huge sums of money to better the land and animals, we watch each others back, turn in all wrongdoers, respect all laws, believe in complete and shared family interactions, leave the landscape clean. Mmmmmmm....need I say more? Don't ever apologize for being a hunter. We are just enviable Americans ! Boy, that soapbox was high! Ha.

itsahunter,

although we are all biased on this I believe you are correct. I will try to put it another way. Why do so many of us with kids want the kids to take up hunting? Because of the values it instills in them, the fun we want them to be able to have, the respect for the animal.

Just think of all of the things we want to limit our kids on, to much tv, video games, phones, hanging out with the wrong friends...the list goes on.

Hunting brings together multiple generations who can all participate in one activity. Kind of hard for grandpa to play hockey with his grand kids but most can still hunt with the kids that maybe 60 years younger than them.

I remember being a kid and sitting at deer camp and listening to all of the stories of years gone by. 8 guys 30 years of stories...Wow!!! No wonder I could never sleep.

Don't apologize for what hunters do. Sure there's a few clowns but we are a good bunch. I've always been perplexed why we generally can't harness our collective energy to get things done, especially politically. Probably because we're out in the outdoors too much!!!

Great post.

Yes, leech. I've been hunting 36 straight years, and still relish the stories of yesteryear. That's what makes it it great. Not the SHOT, but instead the great stories and values we get to share. It's all about the family and friends, and when that happens, it can only be good for all who get to know us!

Great post.

I'd like to add, in addition to not apologizing for what hunters do, represent us as a group in a good way - don't be argumentative when faced with someone who is against hunting, extoll the virtues of hunting in a respectful and positive manner!
