I'm looking for a good walleye jigging rod combo for around 50 or so bucks....I have heard the sweethearts are very nice but out of my price range...I have been looking at the Mitchell elite series, has anyone had any luck with these? Thanks for any input

What size lure will you be using most of the time for walleyes?

I have JM 28 inch walleye rod and have been very happy with it. I use it for fishing chubby darters, bigger jigging raps, and 1/4oz and up spoons. If you are going to be using mostly 1/8oz and smaller spoons I would go with the JM perch rod.

Kinda what he said ^^^^^^ Have both and in my opinion you better be fishing something deep and heavy with the walleye rod. Personally even think the perch rod is too stiff and will favor something like a meatstick, which offers a lot more sensitivity and still enough backbone. But, that really boils down to preference; my father for example, does not have good feel in his hands anymore and likes something firmer for bite detection, and has a hard time using the meatstick.

I really like the Jason Mitchell walleye rods that I have. Might be a little heavy if you use small spoons and jigs, say 1/8oz or lighter. I've used mine for 3/16 and heavier and have been happy with it. The Perch rod is also a very nice rod if you want something with a slightly lighter action.

Gander has a couple very nice combos on thier HSOforum heavily discounted that are worth looking at as well. I have a few of them and have been happy with those as well.

I will be using mostly 1/4Oz spoons in 7-14ft of water....DPALM are your Mitchell rods alot better than your gander rods? I used the gander advantage ice combo year and liked it...thanks for the input
