We have left our dock in for years. We are on a shallow lagoon.. Im curious with water being so low I cant get the pontoon of the lift.. My question is when its cranked up the pontoons are a couple feet above the water. Would it be ok to winterize the boat on the lift and cover it for winter.. The pontoon is 16ft mid 80s .. Offcourse I know its best to take it out.. But with it being stuck on lift and not owning a Trailer it would be easier to just leave it.... Anyone experincing the same problem

Some friends of mine did this a couple years ago. Shallow prairie pothole lake, pontoons couple feet off the water just like your situation.

Winter came, the lake froze big time.

Spring came and with spring came ice out. It got windy and blew big arse chunks of ice right toward my friends dock and boat. The ice did some pretty nasty stuff to his boat.

Knowing what happened to my buddy. If I were in your shoes I'd find a way to get the boat off the lift and onto shore.

the day the lake breaks up would be your problem. If you get the right wind you'd be fine and the wrong wind disaster.

A guy from California who bought a place by us had a great idea one year. He thought he could put the dock out when there was ice on the lake and that when Spring came it would just fall through the ice and Bingo! He'd be set.

The dock ended up all over the place and many sections ruined.
