SIC vs Alconite vs Recoil which guides for your custom rods?

I like the lighter weight of recoils ... this will be my first winter using them (TB PowerNoodle) - so we'll have to see how they perform in the cold. I like to hole hope out in the open, so I'm most interested in how well the resist icing up.

Anyone got data of weight comparisons?

How much lighter is the Rec recoils over the likes of Fuji alconites? Or SICs? Do you notice a big or minimal difference fishing between both?

I've read some mix reviews on recoils, good and bad. Some say the guides hum or make noise. That they more sensitive then the alconites and SIC? Does it really matter or make a difference on a such a small rod like an ice rod over open water rods?

Also why some rods have a mixture of guides like the bottom and mid guides are recoils and the tip is a alconite or sic?

To me I dont feel the "wieght" as much as the "mush" in the rod. I think with the recoils you get a better report of what the jig or spoon is doing down there. Its a solid thud, Where as when I use a rod with guides with inserts I feel like it just dulls the report.

If that makes sense
