So I was thinking about buying this gun for deer. I've never been deer hunting before but I was wondering if anyone has used this shotgun or know if it's a good gun for hunting.

For a deer gun it isn't much. Are you limited to shotgun?

It is about as basic as a shotgun can get. But it IS a single shot and that will make you take your time when you shoot. It will also kick like hell when you shoot slugs through it.

But if this is your FIRST time deer hunting why not try it. That way you won't have a lot invested in something you may not like.

But please, for the sake of the deer, take some time to learn how to shoot it well and learn where it shoots etc.

Thanks. Basically I have a Remington 1187 but I only have the light contour barrel and my options are to buy a new barrel for the 1187 and forehand or buy this topper for $150.

As for what I'm limited to as for places. Kind of yes because my buddy that I'm going with has to stick close because his wife is pregnant and if I get a deer I need to learn how to gut it and would rather learn with someone there.

I would love to try out my 8mm this year! Were going public land and I'm not thrilled about that at all I'd rather be up north and use my rifle.
