Questions for Ice Castle owners?

Just pulled the trigger on a 8x16 Mille Lacs model. This is my 1st wheel house and I have 2 questions for ice castle owners.

1. Towing speed says 55mph max. What do you guys do? I know I have seen them flying down the highway at much higher speeds than 55 but want to see recommendations.

2. Should I look for inside storage during the summer months or is outside storage fine? I plan to keep for awhile.

We just bought the lake of the woods model last year.

My husband does not know what 55 mph is. Make sure you check the lug nuts for the first few pulls on the trips. They seam to loosen often.

We do Lake of the woods trip 2 to 3 times a year and it pulled just fine.

I stay between 55-60 with mine (only pulled it a couple times though). Not because I am worried about the house, but because I am worried about the dam gas the 2500 goes through!

no need to go any faster then 65. Just helps with everything inside the house.

Inside storage always better then outside.

We have a flat front 6.5 x 18 that we haul to mile laces, wilimar area and around the cities and It pulls fine at 65 mph in good road conditions with ice and wind it will slow you down a ton!

I would like to know where there is inside storage available? I have a 8x16 that I bought last year. I have towed mine to LOW at 65 without issues but, road conditions where good.

They have to cover their buns when it comes to safety! I will say that when doing 65mph last year, the RV edition pulled great! That same speed with side gusts were enough to about make me shiver when it felt like someone shoved me sideways about 2 feet. Then the swaying started! I would think the tandems don't have as big an issue in this situation... Just take your gut feeling and go with it, if some think you are going too slow they will pass...Just have fun and catch fish.

Reading this thread it seems everyone wants to go the fastest they can regardless of what they're pulling. There are speed limits and they're NOT posted as the minimum. If you're in that big of a hurry to get to the lake, take a day off, everyone will be safe.

Good point. I guess what I should of asked is can I take this on the interstate at 70 or stay to highways?

You can take it on the freeway with no problema... it has a minimum of 40mph... Just be careful at that speed with the semi's blowing by at 75mph... They are just like everything else... a little common sense goes a long way! If you watch some people think a 2500lb Kia pulling a 3500lb fish house is a great thing for mileage, just back way off and enjoy the show!!! Some people's kids have some crazy ways to do things... may not be wrong, but seems crazy to me.
