I have a buddy that owns this sled and it is really bad going down the trail, it wants to follow all the other sled tracks, its all over the trail, any suggestions?

Have your buddy check his carbides/ski skags if the are worn out this is most likly the problem, although I have seen this happen when people try to put on too agressive of carbides on. Also Polaris use too, maybe they still do on the new ones... A thing called ez steer, this also helps eliminate this problem. It is possible that Yamaha has somthing like this, but a Yamaha guy would have to answer that. Good luck.

it has new carbides on it 3" also aftermarket skis, we tried backing off on ski pressure but nothing seems to help it, also on the e-z steer kits, I don't believe yamaha makes anything like the ones for polaris, anybody else?

All sleds like to grab other sleds ski grooves to a degree. I have a big Indy Widetrack with new 6" carbides and studs and it still moves around. I got on virgin groomed trail in the UP a couple of weeks ago and it was so nice you feel like god is smileing at you. You could check the ski's toe. The skis should be slightly toed out. Toe in can cause darting. That means the front should be slightly wider than the rear. About 1/4 ". Put a bungie between the ski tips to take up the slack. Lift the front of the sled to take the weight off the skis. Carefully lower the sled and put the weight back on the skis. Don't put any more weight on it than that. Now adjust the skis so the front inside edge measures about 1/4" wider than the back inside edge. Check your manual to see if it gives you a different setting.

I rode in michigan this winter for a weekend and one of the guys I was with had a yamaha 600. It was doing the same thing. I told him to put 6" carbides on and lessen the track suspension to the lighter side. His sled doesn't catch the grooves like it did before. Maybe thats the same problem.
I ride a polaris and mine did that until I switched carbides. I keep my front suspension in the middle of the cylinder and my rear on the stiffest. Something to play around with too.
Good luck with that.

Not sure what Yamaha has for carbide but
Polaris came out with a dual carbide, the
carbide run aside of each other. This really
takes the darting out. I'm sure an after
market dealer should be carring for other sleds.
