Ball joint zerk question

Recommended Posts

I put in upper ball joints on a 2005 Trailblazer tonight. First time doing it, but it went pretty smooth.. until trying to grease one of them. The grease would flow through the zerk (sp?) until I screwed it in, and then it would not flow into the ball joint. Tried two zerks, two grease guns, and no dice.

I did have the axle up on stands. I took the spindle out of the upper control arm, and then made sure the ball joint "pin" was straight up, and then I could grease it fine. Put the spindle back on control arm, and just for heck of it, tried to get grease in, and it would NOT flow again. Is this something wrong with the ball joint, or do I just need to get it off jack stand, get a few miles and it was just s funky position?...

The other side greased fine. These were the "high end" ball joints - not the China cheapies.... It drives fine now, just wondering. Thanks for any thoughts.... and thanks for a friendly shop who let me use their press kit! smile
