mabr
I cant believe im writting this, Im a bass guy! But I REALLY liked the time we had in June fishing in Algoma and I know we will be back to do it again. But like i mentioned previously the first mate on our boat talked about the almost 30 lbr he got off the pier in the fall and it has me thinking of making a fall trip to try.So my question is when is THE FALL run around there? Is it resonable to think you can get fish off the pier or in the river? Or should you have a boat. My bass boat isnt going to cut it as I cant troll down that slow with my big motor, but we have a 16 ft console steer alumacraft with a 35 hp that would do great as long as we werent out to far. Is that asking to much to take that small of a boat out there amongst the big charter boats?
tunrevir
Typically the fall runs start the end of August and tend to ramp up with the rains from there. I know a few folks that do"boat battle" and troll the harbour mouths and betwen tangles with other boats and exchanging pleasantries they tend to catch a bunch of large fish. Browns will move into the harbors and jsut outside in the faLL but most folks are after the kings that are staging off the river mouths. Mid to late september is always good and the pier anglers take their fair share of fish. Most guys abandon the bigger boats and run a smaller boat so if the winds are right you would be fine in your boat. Fast tracs, deep t stick juniors in a green and glow pattern, rattling raps and mepps spinners will all produce fish. If you head out I suggest you run just outside the harbors and work the river mouth and the nearby reefs for some hawg browns and a few kings. It tends to be trolling for walleyes on steroids and can be a ton of fun!Tunrevir~
