Hummingbird 598si ?

randerson

Question

I was out in my brothers boat this weekend and his new graph was acting up I went to mark a spot I was on and the screen when into the loading mode like when you turn it on and than it was all in metric after that too. This unit was new just before the opener it is like it did a hard reset because all the trails and waypoints are gone now too. ANy ideas ? I would hate to be with out it now but I might have to make a call to HB

how did u try to mark the spot? if u just hit the one button to mark spot/save location it should not have done anything else. far as i know the only way to do what u describe is to hit a reset button, change preferences in menu setting, or go back to beginning software when turning unit on

There is no "hard reset" on Humminbirds..

There is a "Restore Defaults" in the setup menu (I think)..

I would give it another try before calling CS,

Before I called CS, I would start out by restoring default settings and the install the newest software version into the unit. and give it another try.

If it still acts up, then I would save all your waypoints to a SD card, and then delete them from the unit and then give it another try.

Sometimes a corrupt waypoint can mess up the operating system.. How they get corrupt is anybodies guess. Dumping a bunch of waypoints in from another unit, or converting them to HB format from another brand, can bring a corrupt waypoint into the system also..

I dont think you have a 598SI, as they were just introduced last week at ICast.
