36 grain Varmit grenade Loads .223 remington

Recommended Posts

Looking for some loads for my .223 remington chambered varmit rifle.

I want to give the Barnes Varmit grenades a try in 36 grains. Anyone have some loads worked up for them?

I usually shoot a 40 grain ballistic tip sierra or hornaday over 27 grains varget and hit less than .5" so thought id try some other loads out.

Any ideas?

My prairie dog buddy shoots vmax's out of his 22-250 and they EXPLODE. That round actually throws em farther than my 25-06. I guess due to a thinner jacket and immediate expansion. Haven't seen the grenades in action but I'd like to.

There are some great videos of varmint grenades on the youtube. I usually shoot varget powder but it is not on the factory tables for reloading, hence the looking around. Guess ill have to start with the factory suggestions and see hoe they do.

I did notice my sierra bullets did not handle the 90 degree day very well at 100 yards was shooting a large 1.5" group instead of my usual 3/8 or smaller groupings. That warmer temperature must have been boosting my pressures too high.

Mmmm, I bet these would be fun out of my

Remington XP100 pistol. Let the catapulting,

begin !!!! I just love to see the half sillouete

jokers get sucked out the hole on impact.

( using full loads on P. dogs )

This baby will dot the eyes, though most of my trips to

the dog towns are early spring with cooler temps. Normal

groups are amazingly small, with fast shooting on the town.

What rifle are you using?? I once had ruger 77V with a bull barrel

that would sometimes seem to open up groups. I forgot what weight

Sierra's I was using. They were 22-250 though..
