Dr. James C. Krolls report

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the link, i had noticed this was out but hadn't taken a look yet.

The pieces about the geospacial sciences surprised me... Interesting that Texas had used WI as a model in their early days, yet since then WI has fallen dramatically behind in its ability to accurately find/represent geospacial data.

Also the findings that predation (specifically wolf predation) didn't seem to have a negative impact on populations.

the section on DMAP also kind of surprised me. For someone who thinks public hunting lands are communist, this guy actually included examples of where DMAP could be utilized with both public and private lands.

Slab,

It amazes me how much traction this "communist" quote has gotten. If you want to read an actual response from him see this link. http://www.ultimateoutdoorsradio.com/whe...e/outdoor-news/

I wish he would have given some more suggestions as to what to do, but it's a start. It would go a long way just to have public land doe tags instituted. That and get rid of that stupid SAK method plus having simplified regulations.

smile I did some reading when I had first heard that quote and really just kind of thought it was funny. It irritates me that communism and socialism are terms tossed about today on a whim, by folks who clearly don't know what the words mean. Add in the fact I am skeptical of most things that come out of texas that aren't BBQ and a chick named Carrie that I hung out with in Cleveland for a month back in 2005....

I don't like the Conservation Congress idea, and the passive approach to CWD, though the language about how the efforts of the WI DNR have been valiant and heroic but in the end failures was kind of humorous.

It has its good point but yet lacks on several fronts. Way to much on "DMAP". Seemed to really favor private land. Private and public tags would be a great idea. Could have spent the money on someone else not looking for deer fame and a dollar sign. Hopefully between the state and the hunters something comes out of this, and the report just doesn’t end up on a shelf.
