McGurk
A good start is one and three quarter turns out from the "bottom." Turn it in until it feels finger tight. Don't over tighten it! Back it out and go back in to confirm it's at the bottom. Then go out about one and three quarter. Start it and give it a bit of throttle. Slowly Turn it in until it gets rough and note it, then back it out counting your turns until it gets rough again. Note the difference and split it in half. Turn it back in you calc'ed amount and give it a run. If it doesn't stall when turning it in you may have an air leak in the carb or boot. Don't think this will help your greasy carb. I'd guess a float that has gas in it or a bad float needle and seat. Good luck! I resurrected one of these myself and doubled my money after using it a couple of years. Old School
Service manual said 2 1/2 turns out from bottom. It sounds like you have more going on than a carb setting if its getting oil all over the carb and fouling out plugs. Oldschool
Dave S
I'd say if there's oil getting back to the carb, you might need a rebuild (piston/rings/valve job).Another question, has the machine been transported lately and if so, was it transported on end (front tire in the air)? Macgyver55
Make sure the air box is not full of oil and the breather filter (foam) is in place.Oil level should not be over the full line, with the dipstick NOT screwed in.
