sick fish?

Caught a lm bass this weekend that was 21" but weighed no more than 3 lbs. Skinniest fish I've ever caught. Any thoughts as to why it would be so skinny.

Old age? Most of the fish that I've caught from the lake are nice and fat. Sorry no picture.

could have something, i've caught a couple in the past that were like paper thin with bad coloring etc...besides if its got a disease, parasite or something. they can get plastics lodged in their digestive tract that can cause that as well...

Could have just been an old fish on its way out. Or, has some illness. Fish get sick too - they even catch colds.

I had a biologist tell me once that fish dying of old age often go from the tail forward, and I've caught two muskies that were 'half dead' - they looked fine if a little skinny from the nose to about half way back, then they changed color and looked pale and funky from there to the tail. Neither one fought much at all. Kind of felt bad for 'em...

Must be sick. I had a scientist tell me that another common way for them to die is from starving. He said that when fish get old they loose their eyesight just like humans as well as their hearing. Taking them two senses out of the picture, it makes it a lil tough to get enough food to feed a big fish. In return they dont have the energy, airbladder gets weak, and they sink to the bottom. Im sure they're are a 100 diff theories but it made sense to me.
