Turtle Portage - LOTW

Anybody have any current news on whether or not the portage is working? Heading up Thursday and would like to shoot up to WFB for a day and try our luck with the trout if possible.

Last I heard it's working. I wouldn't want to haul anything over 17' on it though.

Shorelunch - how come - is it in tough shape or would it be just too much effort to get an 18' boat over? Planning a trip around the whole lake for next year.

Turtle portage if pretty an important element to the plan. I guess a guy could start in Sioux Narrows and finish up in Nester Falls.....

The water was up pretty good so getting over was not too difficult. I was able to get my 19' fiberglass over last weekend. Was a three person job with someone making sure the cable was getting wrapped around the spool okay and not getting tangled.

It's definitely at least a three man job. The wheel can be difficult to turn with a heavy boat, so the lighter the boat the easier. Since the water is up, there'se less to travel, too. If they got a 19 footer, you should be able to your's over with a good crew.
