clKiekhafer
Hi All, Just wanted to say that everyone is right about building rods, it is addicting. I have two builds coming in the mail this Friday. Both are Batson blanks one is a XSW62L for my son-in-law for walleye jigging and the other is CB70H for myself that will be used for heavy northern trolling. This will be my first casting set-up. I'm putting on EVA grips with Blue X-Flock shrink tubing with AT14 in Cobalt Blue reel seat. I've done three rods already, but before I start these two I'm taking a class by Gary Wicks later this month. I want to see what tricks I can learn and hopefully improve on my techniques. Did I say how exciting I am for this Friday! I also want to thank everyone on the HSOforum for your experience and willingness to share with others and for being patient with us that have only started to learn the in's and out's of rod building. clKiekhafer
Thanks for the suggestion Harvey. My two builds came in on Thursday, one day ahead of my expected arrival date. I've started to look things over and discovered that the X-Flocking I ordered was the correct size for the rear grip, but too large for the fore grip. The one tip-top was too small for the one blank so I have another coming along with the smaller X-Flocking.

clKiekhafer
The two rods that I've been waiting in the mail have arrived and are completed. The first one is for my son-in-law and is a SXW62MX Batson blank with a Fuji Quick Lock spinning handle. The second one is for myself and that is a CB70H Batson blank with an Alps anodized Cobalt Blue reel seat and EVA rear and fore grips covered with blue heat shrink tubing along with blue Zirconium guides.
