Tow capacity

not_nuf_time

Question

Alright guys, need some help, I have 2002 1500hd chev, everything says it has a 10,000 pound tow capacity. Is this true or way less, I just bought a camper that wieghs 6200 lbs empty. I was told my truck would pull it no problem, so I bought the camper, now after some self doubt I'm worried it's to heavey. 6 ltr engine beefed suspension 5 springs. Help ease my mind, thx.

I'm seeing a rating of 10,300#.

You should be fine. Just keep in mind the weight of all your gear, including propane, batteries, filled water tanks, coolers and other gear. And make sure you're distributing the weight properly to get an ideal tongue weight.

And make sure to keep those brakes in good condition. Not being able to stop is your biggest danger.

I pull a 7400 lb 5th wheel with mine with the added tow package. Added air lifts which helped a lot. No issues for me other than she sure likes to drink a lot of gas as I haul this down the road.
