Surplus Bear Permits

I didn't get drawn for Area 31. Does anyone know the best way to get a surplus license come August 7 at 12:00 PM. Would that be online? How about standing in line at a commercial license center? Would our County Courthouse be a better bet (I hear they sell hunting licenses). Can I do this online? Anyone have any experience with this? Are there long lines at license centers? Any help will be appreciated. I would really like to pick up one of these licenses. Thanks

I got one last year, I went to a hole in the wall bait store I knew of was second in line to get one. I think there were 300 avail and all gone that day if I remember right...

Thanks for the reply...Did they open up at noon again last year? What time did you get to the store? Anyone lined up after you?

I got there 11 or so incase line, nobody was there I told clerk why I was there make sure machine working etc and went in car until 1145 one guy ahead of me by 12 he got his I got mine. I would find smaller outfit and go hour ahead and wait. Call DNR they can tell you after July purchase deadline how many available to buy if any for your area, I hunted area 51.

I tried getting a surplus tag for area 31 last year. I was third in line and didnt get one as they were sold out in 15 minutes for area 31. I would be first in line and have them have everything entered ready to push send at 12pm. I hunt area 31 and got drawn this year. Good luck!
