New to Bowfishing

Hey guys,

I went to Lidgerwood ND last weekend to go shoot some carp. It was the first time I ever went bowfishing, or even thought about it.. OMG! It was the most fun I have had in a while. I didnt ever think I would find something that I liked more than fishing, or hunting, but a combo of the two is amazing! So much action. Though I shot at about 30 or more, I only got two in the boat. both were about 15 pounds.

So here is where yall come in (excuse my southern words, as I just moved here from the mountains of North Carolina about a month or so ago. lol)

Okay, obviously I dont want to drive 4 hours everytime I want to shoot some carp, so is there any good lakes within an hour or so of Thief River Falls MN that have good numbers of carp?

Also, I am saving up for a 14-16 ft jon boat, and I am going to make a shooting deck for bowfishing, does anyone have any pictures of their setups I could take a gander at?

And sorry to drag this on so long, but do yall have any recommendations on what to do with the carp we shoot? I want to use them for SOMETHING! I live in an apartment, so a garden is out of the question..

Thanks!

Some people smoke them, not me! I have a farmer that lives by me. I take the carp i shoot to his pigs, apparrently they are loaded with protein or something, and are actually good for them, and the pigs love them! The first time I brought one, it had to be chopped up a little, but now they go right after them. Otherwise find someone that will let you bury them in a field or something.
