Shimano TranX

[Whopper Stopper]

Does anyone have the tranX? I have been trying to dig up some info on them but other than manufacture hype, I haven’t found much. I do know they cost as much as a scooter and are as heavy as a 56 Buick. Other than that I am all ears.

Check out thorne bros. Bob Turgeon and other has some experience with them. Played with one today Curado on steroids was my impression. Ifthe store I was at had the high speed, i would have bought... yet another reel to revolutionize the muskie world.

Got to use mine for the first time in Wisconsin last weekend. I have the HG version. It's a big reel but far more comfortable to palm etc than a Abu 7000 or a shimano 700te. Speed and castability are outstanding. I've used a Trinidad 14 for moving blades fast the last 2 years and the TranX is faster and more importantly to me just a whole lot better casting wise. Has a levelwind so no more issues with line piling up and what not. I wouldn't pair it with a small bait rod as it is a large reel but is a great choice for big baits or moving blades fast.
