Riverfisher
With these new superlines what kind of knot does everyone use. I have got 30 pound test spiderwire on one of my poles and yesterday I got a snag and my line broke quite easy. I was using a Clinch knot.
carlcmc
might be the line or knot. i tried some of that and lost 4 $5 lures before i decided to respool. I now use powerpro 15-30lb test and use a uni knot on it. Have not had it break once.
Cooter
You shouldn't need any special knots for the braids. I've used palomar, clinch, and unis without any problems. I've once had 80lb braid break on a hook set, am assuming it was partially cut or frayed and I hadn't noticed it. Was skeptical, but haven't had problems since. Don't go too light with the superbraids, I'd say 65 is min. and personally use 80 and 100lb. My roommate just bought some Tuff line and they recommend a double or triple palomar - they include illustrations on how to tie it. Hope this helps. basguy31
I use polomar knots on all my braided lines. I haven't had any problems with my knots slipping or breaking yet.
Captain Ken
I use Uni knots on all my braided line and it works fine. Palomar is supposed to work good. Tried it a couple times and seems OK. What I always do is check for frays and nicks. What I learned last year during the Lake Vemrilion Muskie School is that people don't always remember to do this. Lots of rocks and such down there to cause you grief. Plus I would use MIN of 65 and 80 is better. The lines are pretty thin so this won't hurt you.Capt Ken------------------Captain Ken Kesslerwww.captainken.comwww.muskieschool.comGuiding in Illinois and North East Minnesota847-970-9108 Illinois218-742-4680 Minnesota
JWB475
I use 80 and 100 lb Whiplash, and always tie a double Palomar knot. It has never failed me....
KB
I always use the Palomar knot. One thing to remember to ALWAYS do is to wet the knot prior to cinching it up. Friction and heat from cinching the knot without it being wet can ruin a good knot.
