Labrador weave?

You could try opening a picture of what you want in paint. They you can set it to show grid lines. The grid lines would show your vertical and horizontal colors. You have to manually number the wraps and pattern threads but should work.

OK that is a small sample. I just downloaded a pic from the web and after some messing around got what I wanted. But saving it with the grid lines required some print screens and cutting that is why the images is small, but you get the idea.

If you want it vertical on the rod. Number across the top for the pattern thread and the side for the wraps. You can mess around with the size of the pics before the gridlines to get more or less detail. This one may not have the detail you need around the ears but may not come out too bad tho.

Thanks upnorth. I did something similar but used cad. How do you pick out the colors then? Im doing a yellow lab, so should be easier than a black, but i still could be cutting it off if it looks like a yellow blob.

Whats the OD of the blank and the top of the fore grip? When your doing something that small your going to have to sacrifice some detail unless you plan to have the ears touching on the bottom of the blank. Not trying to stir the pot, just calling it as I see it.

I've dabbled a little with weaves and at some point get into it a little deeper.

I don't have the Pic to Weave software but I have used something called PC Stitch.

It lets you create your own patterns based upon jpegs and the size grid you want to work with.
