I am wondering if the fishing is as good as the shows make it out to be. I have a small boat and limited time, On a first time weekend what are my chances of getting into some good fishing, anyone who can help I would love it

The fishing is actually as good as they say it is, and even some. But you'll have to find the fish. It is a rather large and growing lake. I find it easier to fish from shore at times because of how the lake is designed. To hop to another part of the lake, you may have to load up the boat and relaunch in another part of the lake. The fish in there are top notch fish. They taste good, smell clean and are good sizes. You will have to roam around a bit to get the feel for the lake. But, in my opinion,,,,having a smaller boat can have its disadvantages because the waves and currents and get crazy at times. Just use common sense. Stay away from the crowds and find them. Once you find them, they are a blast to catch! Good luck.

If the weather is not calm, I'd suggest putting your boat in at a place where you can get out of the wind quickly by ducking around a corner and into the trees, then work the tree lines until you find 'em.

+1. It becomes very difficult to dock or hook up your boat to the trailer once the water gets rough with wind conditions. We've have dented and crack props doing so in the past.
