Thinking about about planning a muskie trip in ontario. I have been there many times for walleyes, never for muskie. Whats an average day on the water like? How many follows, how many fish? How does it compare with Mn?

Thanks guys.

You can't really exactly answer your question. It completely depends on the type of lake you fish. Some lakes are "numbers lakes" with higher populations of musky but not as big...I have been in groups of 2 guys that have boated 10 in a day. Usually lakes such as this will provide you with plenty of follows and misses even on off days.
Then of course there's the trophy lakes where you have to work a lot harder. Bigger fish with far less of them seen. Some lakes provide a nice medium for both options. If you haven't fished Musky up there I would think you would want to go to one of the "numbers lakes." Get some good experience and transfer that over in the future for bigger challeneges. I highly would suggest going to Canada for Musky, over anywhere else. Just be very cautious with whatever place you picked. The first year or two I went up I selected some of the more challenging lakes to fish, and I wasn't quite ready for them. If you need any reccomendations let me know

For the thirteen years that I have gone, Canada can be a very fun and very miserable expierience all in one. We have had our nightmare trips as well as dream trips. Canada is a whole new expierience. I have seen some of the biggest musky's of my life up there. I would recommend going up there for the mere beauty. Be cautious of lakes with the shoepac strand, youll most likely catch a lot of fish but may not catch any with size. The great thing about Canada despite a few lakes is that the musky's dont get a lot of pressure. From my experience alot of the Canadians that I talked to hate musky's. Have a blast!!!!
