I know someone who went there. From what I gathered, it is your typical trout water shield lake. Definetely not a numbers lake, but the size of them is enormous. It all depends if you want the action or the big big boys.

Northguy,

I've been there 2x and what Brian said is true. There are some big fish in Rowan but we didn't catch alot of them. Biggest was 52" (not by me) for our group. I did have a nice one try to steal a laker I had up to the boat once. The lake trout fishing is awesome with some nice ones to be had and you can catch them not far from the lodge. Walleye fishing is not that good but we did catch some at the falls by the portage to Hill lake. Hill has some nice eyes and trout in it. Neilsens has a couple boats and motors on it and its a short walk.

Hope this helps.

Dave

Hey Northguy:

Everything said on the board is very true. Trout water produces giant fish, you won't catch as many as you would on a stained water lake, but the size is awesome. Check out Happy Landing Lodge on Pipestone or Camp Manitou lake. You can fish some the premier trout water muskie lakes in the area and you can save the price of the flight, they are both boat in lodges. I can give you more info if you want to e-mail me at [email protected]
