help for a newbie!

I've been fly fishing for 9yrs but usually bass and panfish is all I target. This year I really want to get into targeting trout but the only place close to me is Cenaiko Lake. Can anyone help and let me know of other good streams to fish that I don't have to drive down south or way up north?

Square lake a bit east of you has them. Also, if you're OK with fishing Wisconsin, there are a ton of streams just across the border near River Falls.

I agree about square lake. I fish it in october, and often see fly anglers wading along the beach and having pretty good success. Otherwise the SE streams are your only option. Getting a WI license is probably your best bet though.

the $60 for a WI license and hopping over there is gonna be cheaper than a trip or two down to this area... gas ain't gettin cheaper

MN DNR came up with an excellent trout fishing booklet called "Trout Angling Opportunities in Southern and Central Minnesota".... has maps of a lot of different trout streams and public access points.

Also a guy I know Dave Vitrano co wrote a book about habitat improvement streams and public access points in Minnesota and Iowa the name of the book eludes me.
