Kicker vs transom trolling motor?

I have a lund Explorer 1725 console with a 115 yamaha. The motor is great but trolls way too fast for anything but Cranks. I have a bow mount, but I grew up in a tiller boat and really like the control from the back. Question is should I look for a Kicker or transom trolling motor?

Why not both? (other than the obvious $$ answer) - I use the Vantage to hover / slip / backtroll slowly & use the kicker for forward trolling cranks. Depends on what you do most. Livebait / jigging...Electric.....forward trolling / spinner rigs....kicker. good luck.

If you're using the new motor for trolling cranks then I would get a gas kicker, if you're using the 115 to troll cranks and using the new motor for other applications like vertical jigging and live bait rigging then I would lean towards an electric motor (although not rule out the gas kicker completely).

Also, since you already have an electric motor on the front, I'd be more inclinded to go with a gas motor for the transom instead of another electric motor.

Hope that helps a bit ......
