Huge Muskie Sighting

My buddy and I were out fishing for panfish the other day when we decided to cut a spear size hole and angle the fish just to see what was happening down there
(I emailed the DNR last year and they said that angling through a spear hole was perfectly legal as long as there was no spearing equipment in the house.) He has an old converted spear house that we were angling out of. Once we cut the hole we did not have any action at all. We were catching fish at a pretty good rate before this so we thought all the noise and the big hole scared them all away. We were in about 12 feet of clear water. My buddy gets up to go grab a couple of sandwiches and I was moving to help him get out and not tip anything in the hole, we were banging stuff around and the door was open shining sunlight in to the big hole then all of a sudden I glanced back at the hole and saw a huge tail sliding out the opposite corner of the 2X4 hole. I YELLED at my buddy about what I just saw and he came barrelling back to the door ( after years of fishing you would think that we would know not to make any noise, but after an hour of fishing and not one fish I guess we both forgot) He banging around I'm yelling and here comes the 4-foot missle back into our hole. It cover the length of the hole and then some. It was huge, the biggest Muskie that I have ever seen, and I have open water fished quite a bit for them and caught quite a few. My lure was at about a foot off the bottom and the fish was about 11 feet off the bottom and a foot under the ice. I came into the hole and stopped. I slowly reeled up my sunny jig and put it in front of him but he didn't even budge. After about 30 seconds he slowly slid out of sight and we were catching sunnies again in about 2 minutes. I think the Musky thought something was falling throught the ice so she was ready to hammer it when it did. No lure, just light and noise. Very cool to see and I will definitely be hitting this lake this summer in hopes of locking horns with her. Anybody else have anything like this happen?

FUN STUFF and man that would sure enough be a sight for sore eyes right now. Granted ice fishing is fun, but nothing compares to dipping a line for musky, that first follow or fish of the year makes waiting out the winter months worth it.

Come on JUNE...
