Wheel Bearings

There are indeed diferent sizes of bearings. Bearings are measured by the size of the spindle / inside diameter of the bearing.

I don't remember the sizes right off the top of my head but I seem to recall 1-1/16" or 1-1/4" being kind of the norm.

AF I had the same problem as you in that I couldn't find the right size rims for my trailer and the bearings were an odd size as well. I had to special order them at an autoparts store and they were twice the price of the standard sizes.

are there different sizes of bearings? how does someone know which size to get? i have an '84 trailer with with tires that you cannot even buy anymore.

Northern tool has a bunch of trailer parts and (at least the one in Burnsville off Cliff road) has a little board with spindles and whatnot on it so you can bring in your bearings and slide them on if you are unsure.

I have an 82 trailer and had a hard time finding tires. The main problem was the tires on the trailer were about 15 years old and had a strange code that no one had heard of so they said they didn't have them. Stopped in a farm supply store and just happened to find a brand new tire with ST205/14 or whatever code and the old code stamped on the sidewall. Then I realized I stopped at a dozen places that had my tire but they didn't know it.
