I was always under the impresson slower gear ratio more power for pulling big blades. Is that somewhat right?THanks.
Esox_Magnum
Depends how fast you want to move them, low gears in general pull easier untill you hit the saltwater reels then you get higher gears but also more line pick up allowing you to move the bait faster easier... HugoBox
Yep these guys are right on. I have a Trinidad (high gear ratio) and it pulls them like no ones business - it also pulls on me pretty good. I have also pulled big blades with a 7K,Penn 975, Toro, and Calcutta TE ( all low gear ratios). Truth is I used the slower ones at night and the speedy one during the day. If I was going to buy one reel for blades and didn't want to shel out bug cash for a trang, TE, or Trin I'd get a Saltist 20 can make them smoke but with a bit of adjustment you can slow them down nicely. There's pa lot of reel stuffed in a small package- and that's coming from someone who loves everything Shimano. Sorry ifs got off topic a bit.
